Mommy's Birthday

Joshua had a surprise for mommy. A gift card enclosed in a little gift box was placed in the crib. May be little Josh sneaked out to pick it up at night. Haha... Mommy saw it the first thing in the morning when it was time to feed little Josh. The gift card was for a session of massage. It's time for mommy to relax! We dined out to celebrate. Joshua and Anson behaved well and slept through the meal.

2 Month

Little Josh is now 2 months and 3 days old. He is 10.2 lbs and 22 inches (7.3 lb/20" at 1 mo). Two shots and an oral vaccination were given at the clinic yesterday. Josh was ok taking the shots. Daddy was so happy that he finally reached two digits. Mommy's weight was transferred to him. His tummy is getting bigger and so as his poo!

Struggling

Last week was very brutal. Little Josh woke up every hour or two at night. He cried and cried despite any soothing efforts. He could not sleep in and was woke by his jerky movements. We also introduced Josh to the bottle. He had no problem taking it. However, I started to suspect that my milk supply was not adequate. I began pumping more frequently after each feeding but it'd been hard to coordinate the timing. I was exhausted to manage feeding, burping, diapering, and pumping... Also, little Josh fell asleep easily when he was put on the breast and he cried an hour later wanting to be fed again. I had no clue if he had enough milk each time. Therefore, I turned to the lactation center seeking advice. I took Josh to the center on Wednesday. He was weighed on a sophisticated scale with only his diaper on. Then I fed him and he was weighed again. The net amount was his milk uptake. According to the consultant, he was doing fine. As he has been gaining weight (8.12 lbs vs 7.3 lbs three weeks ago), my milk supply meets his demand. Next one is the sleeping issue. Josh has been wanting more attention lately. He cries almost immediately when we put him down. We let him cry but he can go on forever... This is one tough behavioral issue we are facing. Currently we are trying to wrap him up tightly in a blanket, providing a more secure condition for him to sleep in. He seems improving and we will keep trying.
