Daddy's the Chef

Mommy has not been cooking since Josh was born. Daddy, however, has been the main chef. His signature entree is steak salad, meatball pasta, and baked potato shown above. Other dishes include burger made from scratch, taco, spaghetti, and chicken sandwich. Blueberry scones are also made at times. Mommy loves all the dishes. Little Josh will have to wait for years until he can try some of daddy's meal.

4 months appointment

Joshua is 14.4 lbs (45 percentile) and 25.5 inches (75 percentile). Dr. Ali said little Josh is doing well. He can support his neck and kicks strongly. More tummy time will strengthen his neck and back. Mommy was advised to cut back night time feeding gradually so that Josh will sleep through the night consistently. Also it's time to move Josh over to the other room and sleep-train him. The earlier the better. A printout of Solid Food was given as reference. Mommy decided to introduce rice cereal to Josh at 5th month and baby food at 6th month. Two shots and an oral immunization were given.

Highlights at 4 months are:

Night time wake up 0-1 time
Roll over to one side
Sucking fists and fingers frequently
Make bubbles and sound
Stare at TV
Lift up head and support neck
Lift up upper body when placed on lap
stronger grip and grab things
Pee and poo less frequently
Longer feeding/longer stretch between meals
2-6 oz per feeding
Sleep on his own when being placed in the crib awake
Smile/laugh when being called
Recognize familiar faces
Get distracted at times during feeding

4 months

Joahua is 4 month old today. He is heavier (15 lbs.?) and stronger. He gets up 0-1 time at night and mommy feeds him in the dark. He can now sleeps on his own when being placed in the crib awake. Mommy and daddy still need to hold him when he fights sleep. He cries louder and sucks his fists and fingers to sleep. He likes rocking himself on the bouncer. He started to grab things. He started to stare at the TV and became more alert to sound.

Josh's bowel movement was irregular last week that he did not poo for a few days. Mommy called the pediatrician and was advised to give little Josh 1-2 oz water if needed. It is not uncommon that baby could go on 7 days without pooing and it is not considered constipation. After his tummy massaged by Auntie Neslie, Josh finally passed a big poo that went up to his back Thursday night. It was so huge that daddy had to bathe him. He was happy. Mommy was relived.
