Joshua is 9 month old today! He is 19 lbs (25%) and 28 in (50%). His head is 17.5 in (25%) and W/L is 50% Josh was very patient being checked by Dr. Ali. He was relaxed and happy at the appointment. There was no crying when he received a shot of influenza. According to Dr. Ali, Josh may take up less food from 9-12 months. So far mommy has not noticed such a change. Stranger anxiety may also kick in. Josh had a few episodes of it when he was 5-7 months and it may come back anytime.
Lately Josh squeals and babbles a lot to get attention. He frowns less and smiles more now. Mommy loves to see his two dimples and the two halfway sprouted teeth. He is very active playing around. He can sit, crawl, and stand seamlessly everywhere. He can even cruise around when holding on something. With a toy in hand and mommy’s distraction, he wiggles less when being changed.
Mommy started Josh with chicken and he likes it. He will have turkey and beef soon. He enjoys food and he takes water with a sippy cup now. As Josh likes to shovel everything into his mouth, Mommy has to ration him a few pieces at a time. He can finish quite a lot while sitting his booster at a restaurant. He recognizes food and expresses a “give-me-a-bite” look when someone (usually Auntie Neslie) is eating.
Auntie Neslie is Josh’s favorite person. In a few occasions, he called out, “Ah yi, ah yi, ah yi” when seeing her. He doesn’t say that with others. When daddy says “mama”, he knows where to look. But Josh has not said anything close to “mama” yet. The day is yet to come. When Josh’s being called, he will turn to respond. When he looks into a mirror, he will smile to the “baby” whom he doesn’t know it’s himself.
Recently he takes shorter naps during daytime. Instead he spends longer time playing with Anson around! The boys are getting along well so far. No fights or bites yet. When we go out, Josh likes to nap riding in the car. Mommy and daddy are very grateful for Josh’s development. He will be continuously cared and loved for who he is.
