Aloha

We booked our Hawaii trip 4 days before departure. It was a last-minute good deal Alex found online. Originally they booked ahead of us and we thought we were going to Palm Spring/LA while they were flying to Oahu. All of a sudden, plan changed and we were heading to Oahu, Hawaii together. Packing was overwhelming. Then the worries for the flight, hotel crib, time difference, etc. that might trigger infant drama..... WE SURVIVED our first trip!!! Yeah!!! Josh was better than expected and we had a great time with my sister's family. 4 days/3 nights. A very unique experience! It was like no other travel experience than before. In no doubts, it was one of the most memorable ones!

5-hour flight
4 adults/2 lap childs
1 check-in luggage
4 stroller luggage
4 carry on bags
2 strollers (including 1 carseat)
1 check-in carseat

House Without a Key, our first lunch at Oahu. It was also Ken's Birthday.

At Waikiki Beach. Thanks for the Japanese tourists. We were not the palest group there!

Thanks Shan & Lik for watching Josh. Ken & I got a chance to visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The ticket for the USS Arizona Memorial was sold out. We visited the USS Bowfin Submarine instead.

The advantage of traveling with my sister's family: Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay
Shan & Lik went ahead while Ken & I watched Anson and Josh. They watched the boys while it was our turn.
1st day Josh was afraid of the ocean. He cried when touching the water. (Mommy was like that too in childhood. Grandma had to send her to class and mommy learned swimming with other kids and joined the school team eventually) Anson braved the waves! (Just like his mom!)

2nd day Josh was afraid of water in the beginning. After mommy (of course) held him and soothed him, he finally got into the water with mommy, aunt Neslie, and cousin Anson around. He played and laughed in the ocean as if he was on land. Daddy took video of it. Coming soon...

The boys enjoyed playing sand the first time!

11 months

My boy will turn Big One in a month! Time flew and it was like yesterday when mommy first held him in her arms. Mommy has finally stopped nursing Josh since 10 months + 1 week. It was mixed feelings weaning the boy. Mommy will miss the closeness and private moments being with Josh. At the same time she is relieved from one big task. Mission accomplished! It means NO more decaf Latte and MORE sashimi and sushi!!!

Baby is fast learner. Josh has picked up more skills. He recognizes terms that we use such as light, ball, flower, vaseline, Mickey mouse, brush teeth, etc. He can now follow simple instructions such as waving goodbye and clapping hands. He can play hide-and-seek baby version with mommy. He recently likes pointing with his index finger. It's kind of cute. Also he likes squealing and babbling a lot to get attention. His favorites are still the Aligator and Hippo bathing toys. They act well as his calmer at fussy times. Mommy has started to introduce Josh with table food. His appetite is not as predictable as before. He may eat a full meal and 8 oz of milk before bedtime. Or he may not eat a good portion for dinner and take less milk at night. If congee is served cold, he doesn't want it. But if it's warm and freshly made, he eats it all! For commercial baby food, he is fine having it cold. He is ok trying different tastes but the challenge is the texture of food for him. Mommy realizes that her boy is getting wiser and it means more difficult to care for eventually. Joshua also started to make funny faces and sound to catch attention.

Two more teeth have emerged from the top front. Now Josh has 4 teeth and mommy keeps up with brushing them twice a day. Josh is not walking independently yet. He needs more confident and practice. His bottom and thighs are getting bigger and he weighs at least 22 lbs. He now fits into 12-18 months clothing. Diaper is size 3 for daytime and size 4 for nighttime.
