At 16 month, mommy is struggling to brush Joshua's teeth every night. He doesn't like being brushed all the time. Mommy has to get a wet cloth standby for wiping when a brush attempt is failed. Joshua continues to be a milk lover. Mommy is trying to limit his intake for no more than 24 oz daily. Drinking too much milk prevents him from eating or trying new food. He is still having bottle in the morning once. Sippy cup and Thermos with straw is given to him throughout the day. Mommy has determined to withdraw bottle by 18 month although Joshua still holds the record of draining 8 oz within 5 minutes! According to Dr. Ali, the nipple of bottle pushes the teeth in and it's bad to continue (mommy is doubting the impact of 5 min daily??). Anyway, Joshua doesn't need a bottle. He just drinks the fastest with it.
Joshua is loving carbs and eating more fruits. Occasionally he eats meat and veggie. His eating pattern varies from time to time. He tries and refuses new food at times. But Mommy knows his weight gain is steady.
He is more aware of the surrounding. When he goes to a new place and meets new people, he needs time to warm up. He shakes his head to signal "No" and nods for "Yes". He is waving less recently.
Joshua's nap time routine is changing. He has been skipping his afternoon nap a few times and he is ok until bedtime. It's getting harder for Josh to fall asleep at the Mall now as he is more excited with the surrounding. Unlike the past, he doesn't always nap during a ride in the car. He likes to look out the window and listens to his favorite rhymes. Sometimes Mommy wonders what his little brain is thinking.
Mommy is trying to take Josh to the Gym at least once a week. After skipping a few times, Josh has become a stranger to the area and refuses to play. Mommy needs to be consistent with the schedule.
Josh continues to outgrow his clothes. Currently he fits into 18 mo, 18-24 mo tops. Shoe size is 6-6.5. Mommy is getting his Fall clothing ready.
Mommy and aunt Neslie have been looking into Preschool for the boys. They will probably start school sometime next year. Potty training is the next big step to be accomplished. Joshua knows what pooping means but he is not ready to signal that upon happening. Mommy will keep monitoring him until he is ready.
