Welcome Joshua!

Joshua arrived one month earlier at week 36 and it was my first day of maternity leave! After taking a shower around 9:30 pm last Sunday night, I felt water "leakage" at my bottom and tightness in my belly. Ken called the hospital and we were told to go in for a check up. As we did not have our hospital bag ready, we quickly grabbed extra pairs of clothes, toothbrushes, and towels...etc. We thought we would get kicked back home after a brief check up.

We checked in to the hospital at around 10:30 pm. I was strapped by two belts by a nurse. One belt to monitor the baby's heartbeat and the other one for contraction. I was 3-4 cm dilated and we were told I would stay to deliver the baby!!! My contraction got stronger and stronger and I had no intention to take any medications. I could take it all the way to 9 cm. The doctor was on-call and she was on her way. The toughest part was to hold on with the urge to push but was not allowed. Good thing was Ken and I just had a class for breathing the week before and it really helped me going through the strongest contractions. The doc finally arrived and I was fully dilated. Pushing started and I delivered Joshua naturally within 5-6 contractions, each one was less than 5 minutes apart.

The whole process from water break to labor to delivery happened in 3 hours. It was not that bad at all. No medications were involved and I made it naturally. I had a few stitches but it was nothing compare to the strongest contractions I experienced. I had a doctor, a nurse, and Ken by my side and they were very supportive. When I looked at my little one at first glance, it was all worth it. I already forgot all the discomfort during pregnancy and the pain during labor, which I believed was at minimum level compare to most of the pregnant women. My son was a total surprise!!! From I first found out I was pregnant to the day I delivered him, it happened and lasted in four months. He is a gift sent from Heaven!

Ken and I haven't finished all the classes. We are coping our new schedule a month earlier and we are adjusting our new life together with our instinct.
