13 months

Josh is walking continuously! Each day he walks longer and steadier. He also feels comfortable walking with shoes or barefoot. He likes to follow what we say and he can pronounce: 爸爸, 媽媽, 花, 燈燈, 波, 婆婆, bub-ble, sh-sh- (樹樹), five, ...etc. He understands more what we are saying and follows simple instructions. He shakes his body when hearing music. Por por taught him how to use fork and he got the poke-and-eat concept. He needs more practice on that. Also he learned to turn around and get down a step with his tummy and legs go first. He likes waving hi or bye and smiling cheerfully. He is a happy boy!

Josh has encountered his first fever and illness after he turned 1. He had fever up to 101 at one point. He did not cry but was less active. Mommy called the doctor and he was taken to the clinics the following morning. His ears, lungs and throat were checked and everything was alright. Daddy and mommy were told to monitor him for the next few days. The doctor said it was possible that he had picked up some virus but mommy felt that Josh was sprouting molar teeth. The fever was gone in two days. Then Josh started coughing in the middle of the night. Mommy took half day off and took Josh to the clinics again. Like last time, his body was well and no meds were prescribed. Poor Josh behaved well and did not cry at all. Mommy and daddy were being watchful. He lost some weight due to the sickness. A running nose lingered for another few days before he fully recovered.

Josh finally eats more fruits and his recent favorites are strawberries and blueberries. He also eats more at Sweet Tomatoes and enjoys Jello and ice cream. He is willing to try more new food. He likes bread and noodles. He is ok having peanut butter! He is still taking formula 8 oz; 2-3 times a day. In between he is having whole milk kept in a thermo bottle. Except for extreme flavors and sweets (juice), mommy lets Josh try new food after he turned 1.

Finally Josh listens patiently when mommy reads him a book. He even brings a book to mommy for reading. He looks into pictures curiously and his little brain registers what he sees. He remembers when being taught a few times. He recognizes real flowers and says
花 when seeing pictures. This is the most fascinating part! Mommy enjoys reading to

Josh.
Josh has 6 teeth and 2 more are sprouting. Brushing his teeth is getting more difficult. Mommy finally figured out a trick -singing songs while brushing Josh's teeth. He is more cooperative when hearing his familiar songs.
